Chewy Jam Squares

So, a friend of mine mentioned that he’d be interested in trying to make “slice-able jam” that you could eat like sweets.

I made some jam last year that set too hard to spread.

I thought these two points should be combined…

It actually worked very well, and proved popular!  (Especially with friends allergic to dairy/gluten etc., as it literally just contains fruit and sugar.) Very fruity, and a bit like Turkish delight.

A good way to use up any home-made jam that didn’t quite work….

1. Melt bouncy-ball-hard jam so it can be persuaded out of the jar.
2. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper and cover it with a generous sprinkling of icing sugar.
3. Spread jam to ~1cm thick and leave to set in fridge.
4. Slice into squares and roll in icing sugar.
