Halloween Pumpkin Decoration

A quick and easy crochet pattern (albeit a bit late for this year).

A quick and easy crocheted decoration

I used a 3.5mm crochet hook, resulting in a pumpkin around 4cm high, but it’s really up to you how big you want it….

The pattern follows….
Abbreviations:

sc: Single Crochet.  (I’m using the American notation throughout, despite being English, as more of the patterns I have are American.  The differences are explained here.)

dec: Decrease.  Unless specified otherwise, this is a decrease over two stitches. i.e. : Hook through stitch, pull up a loop, hook through next stitch, pull up a loop.  Yarn over hook and pull through all loops on hook.

Orange yarn, the brighter the better!

Round 1:  Make a “magic loop” or “magic circle” with 6 sc

Round 2: 2 sc in each sc, finish with a slip stitch into the first sc. (12 around)

Round 3: (2sc in first stitch, sc in next)* repeat around and finish with a slip stitch into the first sc. (18 around)

Round 4: (2sc in first stitch, sc in next two)* repeat around and finish with a slip stitch into the first sc. (24 around)

Round 5: (2sc in first stitch, sc in next three)* repeat around and finish with a slip stitch into the first sc. (30 around)

Rounds 6-9: sc in each sc around, finish with a slip stitch into the first sc.

Round 10: (dec in first stitch, sc in next three)* repeat around and finish with a slip stitch into the first sc. (24 around)

Round 11: (dec in first stitch, sc in next two)* repeat around and finish with a slip stitch into the first sc. (18 around)

Round 12: (dec in first stitch, sc in next)* repeat around and finish with a slip stitch into the first sc. (12 around)

Round 13: dec around and finish with a slip stitch into the first sc.

Stuff and finish off. (It seems appropriate for a Halloween decoration to have 13 rows, so I won’t call this 14!)

Green yarn: Tie onto top and chain~5, sc in each chain and finish off.

Black yarn: Sew on face and eyes as you see fit!
